Columbus Christian Academy’s Safety Measures for first quarter of 2020-2021 school year due to COVID-19
We will have hand sanitizer dispensers placed strategically throughout the building.
Only PreK and Kindergarten parents are permitted to walk their children into the building but are not permitted to enter the classroom.
We ask that families take temperatures of student prior to coming to school. Any temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher should result in the child staying home. The child may not return to school until they have been fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.
Any child exhibiting symptoms such as coughing, shortness of breath, fever, chills, muscle or body aches, and sore throat should not come to school. If a child comes to school exhibiting these symptoms, they will be sent home and not allowed to return until cleared to do so by a family physician.
Classes
Middle and High School classes will have a staggered class release time in order to prevent large crowds in hallways. Classrooms will be sprayed with Lysol and or wiped with sanitizing wipes in between classes.
Elementary teachers will spray Lysol and wipe down surfaces with sanitizing wipes throughout the school day.
They will also discourage sharing of items where germs can be easily transmitted.
Desks in classroom will be spaced as far apart as feasibly possible.
Chapel on Mondays which consists of 6th -12th grades will be split into two sessions. 6th -8 th and 9th -12th
Chapel on Thursdays which consists of K-5 th grades will be split into two sessions K-2 nd and 3rd -5 th.
Lunch/Break
Lunch and breaks will take place in home rooms instead of the lunch room.
Kids will be allowed to go outside at lunch if possible.
We will not offer any fundraiser lunches for the first quarter of school.
Students will still be allowed to purchase pre-packaged foods from snack room.
Sanitizing/Cleaning
We will hire a company to supplement our current custodian’s cleaning twice a week. This company will be responsible for disinfecting all surfaces. Our custodian will also do additional sanitizing each day
Playground equipment will be sprayed with disinfectant regularly.
Departure
Teachers will work together to ensure the halls are not overcrowded at end of day and stagger classes being in the hallway as they exit the building. Students will walk out together in their class groups and remain separate from other classes as they wait for their ride.
Assemblies/Visitors
We will limit all assemblies to small groups and will also limit the number of visitors allowed on campus.
This restriction will eliminate Grandparents Day activities which typically take place in the fall.
Sports
• Games
• Concessions
• Practices
All activities are on hold until at least September 1st. Details will be released as that date approaches.
Note: Children who have knowingly been exposed to someone with COVID-19 should remain home for 14 days
